What others think of the FX4 Max
Let’s see what other reviewers have to say about the 2022 Ford Ranger FX4 Max
CarExpert

The Ford Ranger FX4 Max is certainly geared towards serious off-roading and with that in mind if you aren’t planning to take it off road you should consider one of their other variants such as the XLT, FX4 or Wildtrak which can offer far superior on-road manner and while also tackling some of the rough stuff when it needs to.
This beefed up FX4 is not for everyone.
- Interior and Exterior Styling
- Extra off road ability without the price
- Can haul more than a Raptor
- Rough ride
- Non weatherproof seating
- Lacks some active safety tech
CarsGuide

The 2022 Ford Ranger FX4 Max is the gap filler between the regular Ranger line up and the very desirable Raptor X, Being the flagship. The FX4 Max brings everything that we love from the Raptor such as the powertrain, Fox Shocks and wheel-tyre package while also coming in considerably cheaper, While also having better payload and towing ability.
CarsGuide think that this could be the perfect companion if you’re looking for a real tough truck while having some Raptor-spec extras without the huge price tag. The FX4 Max may not have the street cred that the Raptor has, But it’s certainly built to work.
- Improved payload over the Raptor
- Very comfortable
- Excellent loaded performance
- Has turbo lag
- Stupid side steps
- Still rather pricey
Our final thoughts
The 2022 Ford Ranger FX4 Max is certainly no ute to glance over. Bringing in some nice Raptor specs to a cheaper vehicle. In saying that, This ute is certainly aimed more at the off-road market. And would not suit someone using it has a daily driver to and from their office job.
