The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has undergone a significant redesign for 2025, with changes both inside and out. Set to arrive in Australia in the first quarter of 2025, the new model starts at $58,800 before on-road costs, about $6000 less than its predecessor. This redesign aligns the 2 Series Gran Coupe more closely with its 1 Series sibling, offering improved dynamics and technology while maintaining its position as BMW's entry-level sedan offering.

Key Changes and Features
Exterior Design
The exterior styling has been smoothed out, particularly at the rear, while the front end closely resembles that of the latest 1 Series. The sedan now measures 20mm longer at 4546mm and 25mm taller at 1445mm, though width remains unchanged at 1800mm with a wheelbase of 2670mm. Adaptive LED headlights are standard across the range, featuring matrix high-beam and cornering light functions. BMW Australia will also introduce the option of an illuminated grille surround (BMW Iconic Glow) in mid-2025.

Interior Updates
Inside, the 2 Series Gran Coupe features a fresh look with a larger 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen running BMW Operating System 9. This system incorporates QuickSelect functionality, allowing easier access to features through configurable widgets. The interior now has fewer physical buttons, with more functions controlled via the touchscreen. New seats offer greater lateral support, complemented by a new steering wheel and shifter design.

Performance and Drivetrain
The base 218 model now features a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine producing 115kW and 230Nm, replacing the previous 2.0-liter four-cylinder. The top-spec M235 xDrive retains its 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder but gains 8kW of power, now producing 233kW and 400Nm. Both models use a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with the M235 xDrive offering all-wheel drive and a 0-100km/h time of 4.9 seconds.

Chassis and Suspension
BMW has increased the rigidity of the 2 Series Gran Coupe's chassis for improved dynamics, while also introducing "optimised kinematics" and new shock absorber technology. The front wheels now have increased caster offset, contributing to enhanced handling characteristics.
