The Cadillac Lyriq, set to spearhead the return of General Motors' luxury brand to Australia, has been spotted in the wild. A right-hand drive example was photographed at Sandown Raceway, signaling the imminent arrival of this luxury electric SUV in the Australian market.
The spotted Lyriq is already registered in Victoria, likely one of the first examples in Australia. Cadillac has confirmed the Lyriq will come standard with a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain in Australia. The 600 E4 badge indicates a 388kW and 610Nm powertrain. It features a 102kWh lithium-ion battery, with European WLTP range claimed at 530km.
The Australian model is fitted with 21-inch wheels and Continental tires. Standard features include heated/ventilated/massaging front seats, heated rear seats, panoramic roof, and a 33-inch LED display.
Pricing is expected to be competitive with rivals in the circa-$130,000 range.
Competitors include the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.
Cadillac will open Experience Centres in Melbourne and Sydney for sales. Local deliveries are set to begin before the end of 2024.
The sighting of the Cadillac Lyriq on Australian roads marks a significant step in the brand's return to the market. With its advanced electric powertrain and luxury features, the Lyriq aims to challenge established players in the premium electric SUV segment, potentially reshaping the luxury EV landscape in Australia.
