Mazda has officially unveiled the facelifted 2025 BT-50 pickup truck at the Motor Expo in Thailand, showcasing significant updates to its popular ute. The refreshed model introduces a new engine option, exterior design changes, and enhanced features.
New Powertrain
The highlight of the 2025 BT-50 update is the introduction of a new 2.2-liter MaxForce turbodiesel engine:
- Power output: 161 hp (120 kW)
- Torque: 400 Nm (295 lb-ft)
- Improvement: 13 hp and 50 Nm over the outgoing 1.9-liter engine
This new engine is paired with either a six-speed manual or a new eight-speed automatic transmission, promising improved fuel efficiency and smoother operation.The 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine remains available, producing 187 hp (140 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.
Exterior Updates
The 2025 BT-50 receives a significant facelift, featuring:
- A redesigned front end with a larger grille
- New LED headlights
- The largest Mazda logo ever fitted to a production model
- Three new color options: Red Earth Metallic, Geode White Pearl, and Sailing Blue Metallic
- New 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheel designs
Interior and Technology Upgrades
Inside, the updated BT-50 offers:
- A 7-inch digital instrument cluster
- 8-inch or 9-inch infotainment display, depending on the trim level
- Enhanced safety features, including a new Rear Cross Traffic Brake system
Australian Availability
While the facelifted BT-50 is already available for order in Thailand, Australian buyers can expect to see the updated model in the first quarter of 2025. Pricing and specifications for the Australian market will be announced early next year.
