The 2025 Subaru BRZ evolves with meaningful updates while staying true to its engaging and accessible sports coupe formula. Highlighting the lineup is the new flagship tS grade, featuring STI-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, and premium interior upgrades, aimed at enhancing its on-track and road capabilities.

For manual enthusiasts, Sport Mode is now standard, sharpening throttle response for a sportier drive. Meanwhile, a full-size spare tire has been added to the tS, aligning it with other grades in the range. Under the hood, the 2.4-litre naturally aspirated flat-four engine continues to deliver 174kW and 250Nm, offering lively performance in a lightweight package.

Safety sees improvements, with forward and reverse autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning now standard across all variants, adding practicality to the BRZ’s sporty DNA. Prices remain unchanged, starting at $43,790 before on-road costs, with the tS priced from $48,690.

While the BRZ excels in value, sharp handling, and driving engagement, it lacks a turbocharged engine and offers no track warranty. Rear seating and boot space also remain limited, but these compromises are minor for a car focused on driving thrills.

The 2025 Subaru BRZ, especially the tS, remains an excellent entry-level sports car, blending affordability, performance, and refined updates for enthusiasts and daily drivers alike.

Safety Rating

The Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ are “not currently scheduled” for crash testing or safety assessments, according to safety organisations. Both manufacturers, Toyota and Subaru, have stated they have no plans to voluntarily submit these models for evaluation.

While the original Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ received five-star ANCAP ratings in 2012, the more stringent safety standards in place today make it unclear if the current second-generation models would achieve the same results if tested.

ECO Rating

As of now, the Subaru BRZ has not been evaluated by Green NCAP, the organization that assesses vehicles’ environmental performance. Consequently, there is no official Green NCAP rating available for the BRZ.

Reliability Rating

As per Consumer Reports, the reliability of the Subaru BRZ is expected to be average for the 2025 model year. As more vehicles are sold and long-term reliability data becomes available, this section will be updated accordingly.

Previous model years, including the first-generation BRZ, have demonstrated slightly above-average reliability, reinforcing Subaru’s reputation for building durable sports cars.
