Skoda has confirmed that the electric Enyaq lineup in Australia will soon feature a second, more practical body style. The more conventional Enyaq SUV will join the sleek Enyaq Coupe, which arrived locally in pre-facelift form in November.

Skoda Australia is expanding its electric vehicle offerings with the addition of the more traditionally styled Enyaq SUV. This move aims to provide Australian consumers with a broader range of options within the Enyaq lineup, building upon the initial launch of the Enyaq Coupe. The updated Enyaq range is slated to arrive in Australian showrooms around August, promising enhanced practicality and potentially a wider array of trim levels.

Expanded Variant Options

Skoda's local team has indicated the potential for a wider range of Enyaq trim levels in Australia. This expansion could mean replicating the Sportline and RS grades offered by the Enyaq Coupe, effectively doubling the local variant count.

However, Skoda is also considering introducing additional trim levels to cater to a broader spectrum of consumer preferences. The product and marketing team are currently in negotiations to determine the optimal variant lineup, taking into account market demand and available options.

Potential for a More Attainable Entry Point

Given Skoda's focus on value and its tendency to offer a more accessible "Select" model beneath the popular Sportline trim in other lineups, it's plausible that Skoda may look to lower the entry point into the Enyaq range.

This strategy could be particularly relevant in light of Australia's new emissions regulations. Currently, the Enyaq Sportline Coupe starts from $69,990 before on-road costs in Australia. The standard SUV body could be subject to a circa-$2000 discount, with a less feature-filled Select trim potentially bringing the starting price below the $65,000 mark.

Battery and Powertrain Considerations

Skoda also offers a smaller 59kWh battery pack with a less powerful electric motor in the Enyaq overseas, which in the UK retails for around £4000 (A$7930) less than the equivalent 77kWh model. Only the larger battery is offered in Australia currently. The introduction of this smaller battery option could further reduce the Enyaq's entry price, making it even more competitive in the Australian electric vehicle market.

Facelifted Design and Improved Efficiency

The facelifted 2026 Skoda Enyaq, revealed in January, sports a new face inspired by the smaller Elroq. Key design changes include a slimmer dark chrome grille, four LED headlight graphics at each corner (Matrix LEDs for higher grades), and a revised lower apron treatment.

The brand’s arrow logo has been replaced with bold S-K-O-D-A lettering on the bonnet. Redesigned five-segment tail-lights and a dark chrome Skoda badge adorn the rear. While no upgrades have been made under the skin, the new face improves the drag coefficient from 0.264Cd to 0.245Cd for the Enyaq, and from 0.234Cd to 0.225Cd for the Enyaq Coupe, in turn bringing greater driving range.

Enhanced Driving Range and Interior Updates

The Australian-delivered Enyaq Coupe is sold exclusively with a 77kWh battery and has a claimed driving range of 561km on the WLTP test cycle in Sportline guise. An equivalent version of the facelifted Enyaq will now be able to travel up to 597km on a single charge, an improvement of 6.4 per cent. Further changes have been made in the cabin, with overseas examples of the Enyaq being available with six interior combinations.

While Australian examples have only been available in Sportline and RS guise, with the former retaining its black faux leather and Suedia upholstery with grey stitching. A number of features which have been available to Australian buyers – such as a heated steering wheel and front seats – are now standard-fit globally.
