No mechanical changes have been announced for the XC60, which retains its mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options.

Despite being Volvo’s best-selling model globally, the XC60 was outsold in Australia in 2024 by its smaller sibling, the XC40 (3142 sales vs. 1905 for XC60). The new EX30 also performed well with 2129 sales, positioning itself between the two.
Future of the XC60 & Volvo’s Electric Push
Volvo is set to introduce the EX60 in 2026, an electric counterpart to the XC60 that will ride on the SPA3 platform. The brand has been actively refreshing its combustion-engine lineup while simultaneously rolling out new electric models.
Volvo CEO Jim Rowan recently confirmed that the company will launch five new or refreshed models in 2025, with another five scheduled for 2026. This indicates that other models, including the XC40, could receive similar updates to those seen on the XC60 and XC90.
