A massive fire erupted at an AutoZone store in Hollywood on Saturday evening, forcing road closures and significantly damaging the building and nearby establishments.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported the incident at approximately 4:20 p.m. at the store located on N. Highland Avenue.

The fire started in a strip mall that houses the AutoZone store, along with a Fat Sal’s restaurant and a sushi eatery.

Images captured by SkyFOX showed billowing smoke and intense flames consuming the roof of the AutoZone.

By 4:45 p.m., the fire intensified, with flames bursting through the roof.

LAFD firefighters quickly shifted to a defensive strategy as the blaze engulfed the entire roof within minutes.

Significant Progress Made, No Injuries Reported

By 5:30 p.m., firefighters had made notable progress in containing the fire, though some flames remained visible on the roof.

The LAFD confirmed that the building housing AutoZone had been “compromised,” with fire damage extending to at least one adjacent store in the strip mall.

Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries at this time.

Road Closures and Impact on Traffic

The firefight has led to the closure of both directions of Highland Avenue, spanning from DeLongpre Avenue to Lexington Avenue.

Authorities have advised motorists to avoid the area until firefighters complete their operations.
