BYD has officially launched the Atto 2, a new compact electric SUV designed for urban driving. Unveiled at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, the Atto 2 is positioned as a key model in BYD's European lineup, and there's strong speculation it will be coming to Australia.

The UK version of the Atto 2 will feature a 50 kWh battery pack, providing a WLTP range exceeding 310 km. This is powered by a 130 kW front-mounted motor, leveraging BYD's e-Platform 3.0 with Cell-to-Body (CTB) construction for enhanced structural rigidity.
Charging capabilities are a highlight:
- AC Charging: The Atto 2 boasts an 11 kW onboard AC charger, a significant upgrade over the 7 kW charger found in many current BYD models in Australia.
- DC Charging: DC fast charging is supported up to 65 kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in approximately 37 minutes.
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L): Like other BYD models, the Atto 2 offers V2L functionality, providing up to 3.3 kW of AC power to external devices.
Design and Features:
The Atto 2's design blends a traditional SUV aesthetic with BYD's signature styling cues. It's part of BYD's Dynasty series, sharing some resemblance to the Atto 3. Key design elements include:
- Front: A more conventional SUV front-end design.
- Rear: A full-width light bar and a rear window wiper. A distinctive rear diffuser-like section on the bumper is also present.
- Charging Port: Located on the right side of the vehicle, consistent with other BYD models.
- Interior: A minimalist design featuring a screen behind the steering wheel and a rotatable infotainment screen (12.8-inch in the UK version), similar to other BYD vehicles.
Potential Australian Launch:
While not yet officially confirmed for Australia, the Atto 2's prominence in the European market, particularly in right-hand-drive configurations like the UK, strongly suggests a potential Australian launch. Given the Atto 3's current starting price below $40,000 (AUD), the Atto 2 could potentially be priced under $37,000 if it arrives in Australia. A late 2025 launch is a possibility, pending official announcements.
