Automotive manufacturers go to great lengths to ensure the secrecy when it comes to testing their new vehicles, and Alice Springs (N.T) is a hot-spot for keen eyed automotive enthusists to get a glimps (or not so much) of the next-generation models looking at entering the Australian market.

In photos exclusive to CarExplore.com.au, is a model which we can only seemingly make out to be a BYD, with great lengths taken to ensure the secrecy of the vehicles model, and that includes the tyres and rims which has an unusual symbol with the relicts of sticky tape positioned on the rims badge, masking the true identify of the vehicle.

So what is it?

Speculation is that it may be the BYD Song Pro as pictured below, with similar hallmarks of a vehicle that was rumoured to be entering the Australian market in 2021, but was not made official, and was not seen until (possibly) now.

Why Alice Springs?

Alice Springs is a hot spot (literally) for automotive companies to test vehicles, with long stretches of road, in blistering conditions during the day often reaching 37 degrees Celsius as a summer average, and substantial temperature drops during the summer nights of down to 12 degrees Celsius, it is the perfect environment to test vehicles to ensure they meet the quality and durability required in Australia's climate that is different to many other countries.
