Chinese automotive giant Chery has launched its new luxury sub-brand, Jetour Zongheng, introducing a trio of high-performance electric vehicles that aim to redefine the standards of off-road capability and luxury in the SUV and ute segments. The models unveiled include the F700 ute, the G700 SUV, and the G900 SUV, all boasting impressive power outputs and cutting-edge technology.

Introducing Jetour Zongheng

Jetour Zongheng is positioned above the existing Jetour brand, which was established in 2018 as a subsidiary of Chery. This new marque focuses on producing rugged, high-performance vehicles designed for extreme conditions and adventurous lifestyles. CDM-O Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV):

This system combines a 155kW turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a two-speed hybrid transmission.It features an integrated 210kW electric motor and a rear-mounted 300kW electric motor, delivering a combined output of up to 560kW and 795Nm of torque.

CEM-O Range Extender:

This innovative setup allows the vehicles to operate as electric vehicles (EVs) while utilizing a petrol engine to charge the battery.

The same  155kW turbo engine serves as a generator for four electric motors, each producing 300kW, resulting in a staggering total output of 1200kW (approximately 1600 hp) when fully engaged.

Both powertrains utilize an advanced 800-volt electrical system, enabling ultra-fast charging capabilities. Chery claims that these vehicles can achieve a charge from 20% to 80% in as little as six minutes under optimal conditions.

Design Features

The design language of the Jetour Zongheng models reflects their rugged capabilities while incorporating modern aesthetics:

  • F700 Ute:
    • Features a distinctive blocked-off grille design and wide wheel arches.
    • Equipped with reverse-swing rear doors and digital side-view mirrors, it emphasizes functionality alongside style.

Among the standout features of these vehicles is the G900's ability to swim. With an IPX8 waterproof rating, it can reportedly remain submerged for up to 40 minutes while moving at speeds of up to 8.5 km/h, showcasing Jetour's commitment to innovation in off-road capabilities.

Market Launch Timeline

The three models are expected to hit the Chinese market by the second quarter of 2025. However, an Australian launch remains uncertain due to current production focusing exclusively on left-hand drive configurations.
