Honda is generating buzz in the EV world with a teaser of two futuristic electric vehicles (EVs) set to debut at the CES 2025 technology convention in Las Vegas from January 7-10.

These vehicles, part of the Honda 0 Series lineup, hint at the brand’s electrified future and will also showcase Honda’s advancements in autonomous technologies and in-house operating systems.

A First Look at the Futuristic 0 Series

The teased prototypes appear to be new iterations of the Saloon and Space-Hub concepts unveiled at CES 2024.

The Saloon was initially introduced as a sleek, fastback-styled vehicle with a spacious four-seat interior, while the Space-Hub was shown as a boxy, functional people mover.

From Honda’s latest teaser image, one of the EVs resembles the Saloon but with a more evolved design, and the other hints at a shift to an SUV-like silhouette, diverging somewhat from the original Space-Hub concept.

These EVs are likely closer to production-ready models and will form part of the 0 Series lineup, with Honda aiming for a 2026 global launch and North America set to receive the first production units.

Advanced Technologies Take Centre Stage

Accompanying the new EVs is Honda’s proprietary vehicle operating system and Level 3 semi-autonomous driving technology.

This cutting-edge system will enable drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel and eyes off the road under specific conditions, powered by AI and LiDAR-based advanced driver assistance systems.

The 0 Series models also boast innovative hardware, including thinner battery packs and compact electric motors.

These advancements contribute to lower vehicle weight and extended driving ranges, underscoring Honda’s commitment to refining EV efficiency.

Global Rollout, But What About Australia?

Honda plans to expand its 0 Series lineup to seven models globally by 2030, ranging from small to large vehicles.

Following the North American release in 2026, the EVs will roll out to Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South America.

However, Honda Australia has yet to confirm any plans to introduce the 0 Series locally. When previously asked, Honda Australia stated,

“No plans to bring the Honda 0 Series to Australia at this point in time.”

Beyond the 0 Series: Honda’s Broader EV Strategy

The 0 Series represents Honda’s next big step in its EV journey, cementing its global presence in the electric and autonomous vehicle markets.

Apart from the 0 Series, Honda has been actively developing EVs for specific regions, including e:N and Ye-branded vehicles for China and two SUVs built on General Motors underpinnings for North America.

In addition, Honda has partnered with Sony to co-develop EVs under the Afeela brand, demonstrating its openness to collaboration and innovative thinking in a competitive market.
