Timeline of Events

The chain of events began around 4am when officers from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command spotted a dark-coloured Audi A1 travelling along Old South Head Road in Rose Bay. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off, leading to a police pursuit.

Due to the high speed and potential danger to the public, officers made the decision to terminate the chase shortly after it began.

However, the same vehicle was soon seen stationary on Sir Thomas Mitchell Road. As an officer approached the car on foot, the driver accelerated toward them. In response, the officer discharged their firearm at the vehicle in an effort to protect themselves.

Police Car Rammed and Suspect Flees

The driver then rammed the police vehicle before fleeing the scene once more. Fortunately, no police officers sustained injuries during the incident.

Authorities later confirmed that the Audi A1 had been reported stolen from Double Bay the night before.
