The Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV) and Chargefox are set to enhance their electric vehicle charging infrastructure, upgrading several sites across Victoria to provide faster and more reliable charging options.

Major Electric Car Charging Network Upgrading to Faster Technology

  • First Upgrade Completed: The first upgraded site has reopened in Ballarat, featuring two new 50kW fast chargers and two 350kW ultra-rapid chargers. This upgrade aims to improve the charging experience for electric vehicle users.
  • Security Enhancements: In response to previous technical issues, including vandalism, the site has implemented additional security measures such as CCTV to ensure a safer environment for users.
  • Planned Upgrades: The Ballarat site is just the beginning, with six more upgrades planned at various locations, including Airport West near Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport, which is currently undergoing renovations until October 14. Other upcoming upgrades will take place in Barnawartha, Euroa, Horsham, and Moe by the end of the year.
  • Impact on Users: The upgrades come at a busy time for travelers, as the Airport West site will be unavailable during the Victorian school holiday period and over the recent AFL Grand Final weekend. This closure highlights the importance of planning ahead for electric vehicle users.

These upgrades by RACV and Chargefox represent a significant step forward in enhancing the electric vehicle charging network in Victoria. By introducing faster chargers and improving security measures, they aim to provide a more efficient and safe charging experience for electric vehicle owners.
