Mercedes-Benz has taken a significant step to improve the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience for its customers in Australia by fully integrating Chargefox services into its Mercedes me Charge system. This integration allows for seamless access to over 2,700 Chargefox charging plugs across the country.
- Integrated Charging Solution:
Users can now find, navigate to, start, and pay for charging sessions directly through the Mercedes-Benz infotainment system.
The service is also accessible via the Mercedes me phone app or Mercedes me Charge RFID card.
- Improved Convenience: Previously, navigation was possible through the car's system, but starting and finishing charging required the Chargefox app or RFID card. The new integration eliminates the need for multiple apps or cards.
- Complimentary Subscriptions: Select new Mercedes-Benz EVs come with complimentary Chargefox subscriptions. Subscription duration varies by model, with a maximum of up to five years.
- Global Context: Mercedes me Charge has been available in other markets with various charging providers. Globally, Mercedes-Benz offers access to over 1.5 million charging plugs through partnerships with more than 1,300 EV charging providers.
- Rapid Network Growth: Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG CEO Franz Reiner noted that an average of 40,000 charging points were integrated monthly in 2023
- Partnership Significance: Chargefox CEO John Sullivan highlighted the collaboration as an example of how an Australian innovator can work with a global industry leader to enhance EV ownership experience.
This partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Chargefox marks a significant improvement in the EV charging experience for Mercedes-Benz owners in Australia. By simplifying the charging process and expanding access to charging stations, Mercedes-Benz is addressing key concerns of EV owners and potentially encouraging wider EV adoption.
