MG Motor Australia has confirmed it will introduce multiple new models at the 2025 Melbourne Motor Show in April. This will be one of the first opportunities globally for consumers to get a close look at the brand’s latest vehicles.
While the company has not officially announced which models will be showcased, MG is set to expand its lineup across electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
New MG Models Expected for Australia
MG S5 EV
The MG S5 is a small electric SUV expected to replace the ZS EV as MG’s most compact electric model. Built on the same platform as the MG4 hatchback, it will feature:
- Single-motor rear-wheel drive with 125kW power and 250Nm torque.
- Battery options: 49.1kWh or 62.2kWh LFP battery.
- WLTP driving range: Expected between 350-450km.


MG Marvel R
A next-generation mid-size electric SUV, the Marvel R is being developed to compete with models like the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. While technical details are still unknown, this SUV is expected to:
- Feature all-wheel drive.
- Offer high-performance battery technology.
- Incorporate MG’s latest infotainment and safety features.
MG QS (Seven-Seat SUV)
MG has confirmed that its first-ever three-row SUV will launch in early 2025. Likely based on the MG RX9, this model is expected to come with:
- Turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 150kW and 350Nm.
- Hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.
- Spacious interior with seven seats and advanced technology features.
MG HS Hybrid+ and PHEV
MG will introduce two electrified versions of its HS mid-size SUV:
- MG HS Hybrid+: A standard hybrid model designed to compete with the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.
- MG HS PHEV: A plug-in hybrid variant with a 24.7kWh battery, offering up to 121km of electric range (WLTP).
MG 7 Sedan
MG will enter the medium sedan segment with the MG 7, a rival to the Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata. Key features include:
- 1.5L turbo (138kW) or 2.0L turbo (192kW) engine options.
- Modern interior with twin digital displays.
- Sporty design with optional adaptive dampers.
IM LS6 and L6 Premium EVs
MG has confirmed it will import premium electric vehicles from IM Motors, a division of its parent company, SAIC Motor. Two models expected include:
- IM LS6 SUV: A luxury electric SUV with up to 802km of range.
- IM L6 Sedan: A performance-oriented electric sedan with a 0-100km/h time under 4 seconds.
MG Ute?
MG has hinted at launching a ute (pickup truck), likely based on SAIC’s new Terron 9 platform. However, its Australian debut remains unconfirmed.
What’s Next for MG?
MG aims to expand its model range to offer seven ICE models, five hybrids, and seven EVs. The 2025 Melbourne Motor Show will provide a first look at MG’s evolving lineup, reinforcing its ambition to become a top-three automotive brand in Australia by 2030.
