Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Leapmotor is set to make a significant impact on the Australian market, with plans to introduce multiple new models following the launch of its C10 SUV in late 2024.
Leapmotor is entering the Australian market with the C10 SUV, scheduled for launch in November 2024. The company plans to introduce up to two new models per year in Australia. Leapmotor's lineup in Australia is expected to include:
- C10 mid-size SUV
- T03 city car
- C11 larger SUV
- C01 sedan
The C10 will be priced competitively, with both variants expected to be under $50,000 before on-road costs. Leapmotor is backed by Stellantis, which owns a 20% stake in the company and has formed a joint venture for international expansion. The brand aims to offer lower pricing and higher sales than other Chinese EV brands in Australia.
Leapmotor will use a dealership distribution model, with locations to be announced in October 2024.
The company offers a 7-year/160,000km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/160,000km battery warranty. Leapmotor's vehicles feature advanced technology, including the LEAP3.0 platform and "Four-leaf Clover" centrally integrated E/E architecture.
As Leapmotor prepares to enter the Australian market with a range of affordable and technologically advanced electric vehicles, it's poised to shake up the EV landscape. With the backing of Stellantis and an aggressive product rollout plan, Leapmotor could become a significant player in Australia's growing electric vehicle market.
