Walking into the Sydney International EV AutoShow, I wasn’t entirely prepared for what lay ahead. Among the shiny displays and futuristic designs, one car stood out—the 2025 Zeekr 007.
With its sleek profile, state-of-the-art features, and impressive performance stats, this mid-size electric sedan could be a game-changer.
But here’s the catch—it’s not confirmed for Australia just yet.
A Look at the Zeekr 007: Features That Wow
The Zeekr 007, crafted by the Chinese premium EV brand, brings sophistication to the mid-size sedan market.
It proudly sports a ‘hidden energy’ design language, characterized by a stunning 1711-LED light panel across its nose, paired with a streamlined rear reminiscent of the Lucid Air.
From its suede-lined interior to its 475kW dual-motor powertrain, every aspect of the 007 exudes premium quality.
What blew me away was the combination of luxury and practicality.
The cabin boasts heated, ventilated, and massaging seats, an augmented-reality head-up display, and a Snapdragon-powered 15-inch central touchscreen.
Even rear passengers are pampered, with climate controls and ample legroom.
How Does It Stack Up Against Rivals?
In China, the 007 undercuts competitors like the Tesla Model 3, with prices starting at approximately $A47,370.
If it makes its way to Australia, it will likely compete with the Tesla Model 3 ($54,900), BYD Seal ($49,888), and Hyundai IONIQ 6 ($66,500).
Performance-wise, the Zeekr 007 edges ahead.
With a claimed range of up to 870km and charging speeds that can add 500km in just 15 minutes, it feels like the future of EVs is here.
But it’s not just about range—its refined handling, 310kW rear motor, and luxurious ride quality make it a worthy contender.
Why Isn’t It in Australia Yet?
Despite the hype, there’s no confirmation of a right-hand drive (RHD) version, making the 007’s Australian debut uncertain.
Zeekr is prioritizing the Zeekr X and 009 models for now, with the 7X SUV potentially arriving in 2025.
That said, the interest is undeniable.
With Australia’s growing EV market, the Zeekr 007 could disrupt the mid-size sedan space if Zeekr decides to greenlight an RHD version.
Spotted Ahead of the Sydney International EV AutoShow
The Zeekr 007 created quite the buzz even before its official appearance at the Sydney International EV AutoShow from November 8–10, 2024.
Spotted earlier in discreet road tests near Sydney, the 007 drew immediate attention with its striking design and bold LED light panel.
EV enthusiasts speculated about its potential arrival in Australia, especially with the Zeekr brand already confirming models like the X and 009 for the local market.
This early glimpse heightened anticipation, setting the stage for its show-stopping debut at the EV AutoShow.
Should You Buy a Zeekr 007?
If Zeekr 007 becomes available in Australia, it could redefine what we expect from EV sedans.
It blends luxury, performance, and advanced tech like few others.
For now, I can only hope this impressive EV makes its way Down Under—it’s a car worth waiting for.
The Zeekr 007 left me dreaming of the day it hits Australian roads.
Until then, I’ll be keeping a close eye on developments.
