Nissan has confirmed that early "upstream exercises" are underway to determine a potential architecture for a reborn Silvia/200SX.

Ivan Espinosa, Nissan's Vice President of Product Strategy & Planning, is advocating for the Silvia to complete a trilogy of performance cars alongside the GT-R and Z.The project is still in very early stages and is not confirmed to go ahead yet.If approved, Espinosa hopes to see the car before the end of the decade. The car would likely use the Silvia nameplate globally (known as 200SX in Australia).

Nissan Explores Silvia Revival

Challenges include a shrinking sports car market and the need for significant investment, especially if it's electrified. If developed, it would be done in-house by Nissan rather than through a partnership with another manufacturer.

Nissan might offer the platform to OEM partners later to help reduce development costs. The project is still uncertain, but Espinosa is pushing for it to happen.
