Central Coast commuters now have access to a safer, more inclusive train station, with the $40 million Tuggerah Station upgrade officially completed under the Minns Labor Government’s Safe Accessible Transport program.

This marks the station’s first major transformation since 1988, delivering key features to support accessibility and comfort for thousands of daily commuters, including:
- Two new lifts, opened in October 2024
- A new footbridge and concourse
- 15 accessible parking spaces in the commuter car park
- Improved public toilets, built to accessibility standards
- Upgraded bus stops, footpaths, lighting, CCTV, and signage
- A designated Boarding Assistance Zone
- New and extended platform canopies
- Widened platform area near the station entrance
Part of a Statewide Commitment to Accessibility
Tuggerah Station is one of many across NSW benefiting from the Minns Labor Government’s $800 million Safe Accessible Transport program, which aims to improve transport equity and usability for all passengers.
Premier Chris Minns highlighted the upgrade as part of supporting a growing region:
“We have delivered the upgraded train station and transport interchange that Tuggerah deserves. Thousands of Tuggerah commuters will benefit from this upgrade – the first major upgrade in nearly 40 years.”

Better Access, Better Lives
The upgrade was designed with a focus on people who may face challenges using traditional infrastructure, including:
- People with disability or limited mobility
- Older people
- Parents with prams
- Travellers with luggage
Minister for Transport John Graham added:
“This upgrade to Tuggerah Station is so important to ensuring everyone in this Central Coast community has equality of opportunity.”
Minister for Disability Inclusion Kate Washington reinforced the importance of inclusive infrastructure:
“Upgrades like this don’t just improve infrastructure—they improve lives.”
Community-Wide Impact
The station now offers enhanced integration with the Tuggerah Precinct, improving pedestrian access and station connectivity. The upgrade also supports the area’s ongoing transformation under the Transport Oriented Development Program.
David Harris, Minister for the Central Coast and MP for Wyong, said:
“This upgrade delivers significant enhancements to the public domain around Tuggerah Station... and is now inclusive for all.”

Local and federal representatives welcomed the completion of works, which will bring daily benefits to commuters travelling to and from Sydney, Newcastle, and other destinations.
Federal Member for Dobell Emma McBride said:
“This upgrade delivers a safer and more accessible train station for locals.”
MP for The Entrance David Mehan added:
“The community has campaigned long and hard for this upgrade... and it is good to see this has been delivered.”
Liesl Tesch, MP for Gosford and Parliamentary Secretary for Disability Inclusion, summed up the project’s importance:
“Every time another station becomes accessible... it gives me great joy.”
Some minor finishing work is expected to continue through mid-2025, but all major infrastructure is now operational, making Tuggerah Station safer, easier to use, and truly accessible for all.
