As the 2025 school year begins, North-West Sydney residents are benefiting from a major public transport upgrade, with more frequent bus services now connecting growing suburbs to the Sydney Metro.
From 19 January 2025, over 100 new weekly services are being rolled out across major routes, linking areas like Tallawong, Rouse Hill, Box Hill, Riverstone, Schofields, and North Kellyville to Metro stations and other transport hubs.

Key Service Improvements
- Route 742 (Riverstone to Rouse Hill): Now running every 30 minutes during peak periods, with extended operating hours into the evening and weekends.
- Route 748: Now extended to Melonba, operating via Jerralong Drive in Schofields, linking to both Schofields and Tallawong stations.
- Route 643 (Box Hill and Gables to Rouse Hill): Frequency increased to every 15 minutes during peak times, with earlier weekday starts.
- Route 740: Enhanced frequency and extended evening hours, plus travel time improvements via a $1.75 million bus lane upgrade at Mile End Road.
- Routes 746 and 747: Extended hours and added services to Rouse Hill, including early morning and later night buses.
- Route 732 (Quakers Hill–Tallawong–Rouse Hill): More frequent weeknight services and earlier starts.
- Route 745 (St Marys to Norwest Private Hospital): Weeknight services now extended later into the evening.
- Route 605 (North Kellyville to Rouse Hill): Weekday morning frequency now every 10 minutes.
- Route 601 (Rouse Hill to Parramatta): An extra morning peak service now available.
These enhancements build on previous improvements made in August 2024, when 144 new weekly services were added to the North Shore Metro corridor.
Supporting Western Sydney Growth
The changes are backed by a $139.5 million investment in the 2024–25 NSW Budget aimed at strengthening bus networks across Western Sydney.
“People living in our fast-growing suburbs need better access to reliable public transport options,” said Deputy Premier and Minister for Western Sydney Prue Car.
“The new and expanded bus services we are delivering will improve connections to the North West Metro for our growing suburbs.”
“We’re fulfilling our commitment to invest in North-West bus services, to connect people to Metro stations, schools, shops and work,” added Minister for Transport Jo Haylen.

Community Support
Local representatives have welcomed the changes:
Member for Riverstone Warren Kirby: “Providing more public transport services will take pressure off our busy roads and carpark.”
“I’m particularly excited to see the extension of the 748 down Jerralong Drive and Hambledon Road, which will mean 5,500 people will be able to travel to Tallawong Metro Station without needing to find a park.”
Peter Primrose MLC: “There are significant changes to bus services in Box Hill, which will connect these growing communities to Sydney’s world class Metro.”
Additional Tweaks Across Sydney
Timetable adjustments are also being made in:
- Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore: To reflect updated traffic patterns and improve on-time performance.
- Eastern Suburbs (Randwick area): Route 339 will no longer loop around Belmore Park and Eddy Avenue; Foveaux Street becomes the key stop.
- Inner South: Minor capacity increases to services in Green Square and the University of NSW precinct.
