Road users travelling along the D'Aguilar Highway between Woodford and Bracalba are set for a safer, smoother journey, with two major rehabilitation projects scheduled to begin in March 2025.

QLD Double Demerit Points for Easter 2025
Queensland won’t apply double demerits this Easter 2025, but repeat traffic offenders still face harsher penalties under the state’s year-round rules.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will undertake upgrades to approximately 2.3km of road through Woodford—known locally as Archer Street—between Peterson Road and Mary Street. A further 1.4km section near Bracalba Quarry will also be rehabilitated.

Fully funded by the Queensland Government through a $20 million investment under the Pavement Rehabilitation program, the works aim to improve road surface quality, strengthen the underlying pavement, and reduce the need for ongoing maintenance.

Project Timeline

  • Early works: Begin late March 2025
  • Main construction: Starts shortly after early works
  • Woodford section duration: Approximately 4 months
  • Bracalba section duration: Approximately 7 months

Both timeframes are weather and construction conditions permitting.

QLD moves to block private car parks from accessing driver data, protecting motorists from unfair fines and misuse of personal information.

What Drivers Can Expect

Once completed, the works will deliver smoother and safer driving conditions for the approximately 13,000 motorists who use these sections daily.

The Bracalba section adjoins a 2.8km upgrade completed in late 2024, forming part of TMR's broader approach to improving driving conditions between Caboolture and Kilcoy.

Statement from TMR

Scott Whitaker, North Coast Regional Director for TMR, emphasised the strategic importance of the D'Aguilar Highway:

"The D'Aguilar Highway is a strategic link in Queensland's state-controlled road network, connecting the Bruce Highway with communities like Caboolture, Wamuran, Woodford, and Kilcoy, and providing vital freight access to the Darling Downs."
"These rehabilitation works extend the life of the highway and improve safety for all road users."
"TMR thanks the community for their patience during construction."
