Timeline of Events

The chaos unfolded just after midday on Monday, April 21, 2025, near Palmview on the Sunshine Coast. Police allege the crash began when a red Porsche Macan lost control and caused a collision involving multiple vehicles on the busy highway.

Amid the aftermath, a man reportedly exited the Porsche with a firearm. He approached a white SsangYong Rexton involved in the crash and shot the male driver in the arm before allegedly stealing the vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Tragic Outcome

In another car impacted by the crash, a woman died at the scene, while a male passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. Authorities have confirmed that none of the parties involved were known to each other prior to the incident.

Ongoing Pursuit and Arrest

Roughly 30 minutes after the Palmview incident, the stolen SsangYong was located crashed in Landsborough. The suspect then allegedly stole a grey Mazda 3 and continued to flee before being intercepted and arrested by police. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle at the time of arrest.
