The Renault 5 Turbo 3E, a high-performance electric homage to the iconic 1980s Renault 5 Turbo, has officially been confirmed for the Australian market.

Renault Australia has opened an expressions of interest page for customers eager to secure updates on this exciting release.

We earlier reported the unveiling of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, whereas we are now confirming it's release in Australia in 2026.

With 500hp delivered by two rear-wheel-drive electric motors, the Turbo 3E boasts supercar-like performance, achieving a claimed 0 to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds—making it Renault’s fastest-accelerating vehicle to date.

A Modern Classic

This modern remake retains design cues from the legendary Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 while incorporating cutting-edge EV technology. Key highlights include:

  • A lightweight carbon-fibre superstructure for optimal strength and agility.
  • Retro-inspired colour schemes paying homage to its rally heritage.
  • Scrolling light signatures and widescreen digital displays in a cockpit-style cabin.
  • An electric charging port cleverly integrated into a rear air intake, inspired by the original design.

What We Know So Far

Details like pricing, battery capacity, driving range, and production numbers remain under wraps. However, Renault has confirmed specifications will be announced closer to its Australian release date.

Renault’s Commitment to Australia

We have been working around the clock with head office in France to secure the Renault 5 Turbo 3E for Australia, said Glen Sealey, General Manager of Renault Australia.
Customers in Australia will be able to fill in their details on an expressions of interest page.

The Turbo 3E’s Australian arrival reflects Renault’s dedication to bringing innovative models to the local market.
