Tesla has unveiled the refreshed 2025 Model Y, delivering a bold new look, performance enhancements, and tech updates – but with a steeper price tag.

As the world’s best-selling EV, the Model Y now boasts improved range, quicker acceleration, and a Cybertruck-inspired redesign.

Australian Deliveries Begin in May

The updated Model Y will arrive in Australia in May 2025, initially available in RWD and Long Range AWD variants under a special Launch Series. However, both variants come with price increases:

  • RWD: $63,400 (up $7500)
  • Long Range AWD: $73,400 (up $3500)

Enhanced Range and Performance

Tesla has improved driving ranges and acceleration times across the updated lineup:

  • RWD: 466km (WLTP) range, 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds
  • Long Range AWD: 551km (WLTP) range, 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds

Both variants now include the Acceleration Boost software upgrade as standard, previously an optional add-on.

Striking Cybertruck-Inspired Design

The 2025 Model Y embraces a refreshed design that nods to Tesla’s futuristic Cybertruck:

  • Front End: A sleek light bar spans the nose, complemented by separate lower lighting assemblies.
  • Rear Design: A bold, full-width light bar creates a unique, rugged appearance.

Redesigned body castings also reduce parts, which Tesla says helps minimize road noise.

Interior Upgrades and New Tech

Tesla has added cutting-edge updates to the interior, prioritizing both comfort and innovation:

  • Touchscreens: A larger 15.4-inch central display and a new 8.0-inch rear passenger screen.
  • Seating: Ventilated front seats and power-reclining rear seats.
  • Gear Selector: Transitioned from a column-mounted stalk to a touchscreen interface.
  • Ambient Lighting: Adds a splash of color to the cabin.

Launch Series models feature unique touches like black suede dashboard trim, exclusive badging, and puddle lights.

Redesigned Wheels and Suspension

Tesla promises a smoother, more refined ride thanks to:

  • Retuned suspension for better comfort and handling.
  • New 20-inch alloy wheels for improved grip and reduced road noise.

Color Options and Pricing

Tesla has also updated its color palette, retiring black while adding the striking Glacier Blue. Other options include Pearl White, Stealth Grey, Quicksilver, and Ultra Red – all at no extra cost for Launch Series buyers.
