Introducing the Skoda Superb Sleeper Edition: A Blend of Luxury and Power
The new fourth-generation Skoda Superb is making its way into overseas dealerships. To celebrate the transition, the Czech brand’s UK office has unveiled a tantalizing glimpse of what the predecessor could have been. Meet the Skoda Superb Sleeper Edition, an amalgamation of luxury and performance that will leave automotive enthusiasts buzzing.
The Skoda Superb Sleeper Edition
Based on the comfortably plush Laurin & Klement variant, the Skoda Superb Sleeper Edition is a masterclass in surprising performance. With its luxurious interiors and significant performance upgrades, this vehicle is designed to challenge sports cars while offering enough space for the entire family.
Performance Upgrade
Under the hood, the Superb’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, known as the EA888, has been revamped to deliver more power than ever before. While the standard engine churns out an impressive 206kW and 400Nm, the Sleeper packs a punch with a whopping 350kW and 661Nm, surpassing the power of many high-performance sports cars.
To achieve these staggering performance figures, the vehicle has been fitted with a larger Garrett turbo, an uprated fuel system, and new induction parts by RE Performance, a company renowned for creating extraordinary performance vehicles.
Advanced Features
Despite the power upgrade, the Superb Sleeper Edition retains its seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending drive to all four wheels. To manage the behemoth power and keep the vehicle’s weight under control, a range of enhancements has been made to the vehicle’s mechanics.
Though it sports the same silver 19-inch alloys as all Laurin & Klement examples, the Sleeper Edition now boasts grippier Yokohama tyres and massive AP Racing brake calipers. The vehicle also features a significant 50mm ride height drop, thanks to the fitment of KW coilovers, which helps the wagon maintain a low centre of gravity, crucial for high-speed stability and handling.
Luxurious Interiors
Inside, the Skoda Superb Sleeper Edition stays true to the standard Superb with its Cognac tan leather upholstery that perfectly compliments the Royal Green exterior finish, creating the perfect blend of performance and luxury.
It’s important to note that the Sleeper Edition is a one-off model, a testament to what the third-generation Skoda Superb could achieve. The attention now shifts to the fourth-generation Superb, which is set to roll out in Australia early next year. The latest Superb will feature the Volkswagen Group’s venerable 2.0-litre turbo-four engine, ensuring the legacy of performance and luxury continues.
With its unique blend of comfort, space, and exhilarating performance, the Skoda Superb Sleeper Edition truly stands out as a testament to Skoda’s commitment to innovation and automotive excellence.
