XPeng has launched its newest electric SUV, the G7, a model that promises impressive dimensions combined with breakthrough technology at a competitive price.
A Bold New Contender
The XPeng G7 marks a significant step forward for the Chinese electric car maker. Measuring 4892mm in length, the G7 matches the size of the popular Ford Everest and hints at the possibility of a seven-seat layout, though this detail is not yet confirmed.
Early information from official Chinese government documents shows a 2890mm wheelbase, a measurement similar to the recently updated Tesla Model Y.
While not yet confirmed for the Australian market, insiders suggest the G7 could become the fourth XPeng model destined for local showrooms. Its size and design point to a spacious interior that may appeal to families and tech-focused buyers alike.
Power and Flexibility
Beneath its sleek exterior, the G7 uses a 218kW electric powertrain that likely supports all-wheel drive. The vehicle comes in different weight configurations, ranging from 2085 to 2160kg, which indicates that XPeng is preparing multiple battery pack options.
This flexibility may allow for a long-range version, similar to the G6 lineup already available in Australia. Built on the SEPA 2.0 platform that it shares with the G6 and G9, the G7 is expected to offer fast charging capabilities using 800V silicon carbide technology.
Intelligent Innovation and Competitive Value
XPeng places a strong emphasis on both space and intelligence with the G7. The spacious design is intended to provide ample room for passengers while the car incorporates AI-based positioning sensors that replace traditional lidar systems.
This technology is used to enhance driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic parking, and autonomous driving functions.
A rumored price of ¥200,000 (approximately AU$44,092) makes the G7 the most affordable new electric SUV in XPeng’s lineup. This low price is set to undercut the G6 and gives the G7 a strong competitive edge compared to rivals like the Tesla Model Y.
