Chinese premium EV brand Zeekr is actively exploring the potential expansion of its model lineup in Australia, leveraging upcoming auto shows and exhibitions to gauge consumer interest in new and innovative electric vehicles.
While the Zeekr X compact SUV and 009 luxury people mover are already available, and the highly anticipated 7X mid-size SUV is slated to arrive later this year, the company is eager to understand which other models resonate with Australian buyers.
"Teasers" and Feedback at Aussie Events
Zeekr International chief marketing officer Frank Li has revealed plans to bring additional models for potential "debuts" at prominent events such as the Everything Electric exhibition in Sydney and the Melbourne auto show. This strategic approach allows Zeekr to gather real-time feedback and assess which models generate the most excitement and demand among Australian consumers."
Potential Models on Display
Among the models potentially showcased are the Zeekr Mix and the 009 Grand. The Zeekr Mix, a five-seat people mover comparable in size to the VW ID. Buzz, could be a standout attraction. It features swiveling front seats, dual sliding doors, and integrated leg rests for rear passengers, offering a unique and versatile interior configuration.
The luxurious 009 Grand, an upscale version of the 009 people mover, could also capture attention with its opulent second-row seating, complete with a massive 43-inch 4K screen and a premium sound system.
The Zeekr 7X: A Key Launch
The Zeekr 7X is set to arrive in Australia in the second half of this year and is considered a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y. The 7X combines luxury and advanced technology and offers fast charging capabilities, thanks to its 75 kWh Golden brick Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery.
Top trim levels offer features like aeroplane-styled tray tables and a tablet embedded in the tray table assembly for rear passengers.
Right-Hand Drive Commitment
While Zeekr recognizes the importance of right-hand drive markets like Australia, the company has not yet confirmed whether all future models beyond the X, 7X, and 009 will be produced in this configuration. Other models in its global lineup include the 001 and the 007 sedan (with a recently revealed wagon variant).
Ambitious Sales Targets and Market Strategy
Zeekr has set ambitious sales targets for the Australian market, driven by an expanding retail network and the arrival of the 7X.
